Expanding upon the achievements of the flagship iCLASS standard for 13.56 MHz (and 125 KHz HID Prox) contactless smart card technology, HID Global introduces its latest access control platform. This platform surpasses the conventional smart card model by providing a secure, standards-based, technology-independent, and adaptable identity data structure. This is made possible through Secure Identity Object (SIO), a novel methodology for portable credentials developed by HID. iCLASS SIO-Enabled (iCLASS SE) smart cards are an integral part of the next-generation iCLASS SE access control platform and open ecosystem. This ecosystem operates on HID’s Trusted Identity Platform (TIP) architecture, facilitating advanced applications, mobility, and heightened security.
The iCLASS system was purposefully engineered to enhance access control, offering increased power, versatility, and security. It achieves encryption for all radio frequency data transmissions between the credential and reader via a secure algorithm. iCLASS SE builds upon this foundation by delivering additional features like key diversification, authentication, encryption, and portability, thereby enhancing security and performance.
HID’s iCLASS SE 13.56 MHz read/write contactless smart card technology, along with HID Prox, finds applications across various domains including physical access control, PC logon, biometric verification, time and attendance tracking, cashless vending, public transportation, airline ticketing, and customer loyalty programs.
