AML WSC-1600/WSC-2700 Wearable Ring Scanners
The WSC-1600 and WSC-2700 wearable scanners are the ultimate in hands-free scanning technology when it comes to combined comfort and efficiency. Designed for challenging environments like warehousing and manufacturing, they are surprisingly lightweight, coming in at under 2.1 ounces. With the growth of e-commerce fulfillment, the desire to increase speed and efficiency in warehousing and distribution has never been more important. High-performance ring scanners are becoming widely adopted across the supply chain industry to keep workers hands-free and complete tasks more accurately and at a faster pace.
Scanner Compatibility
AML wearable ring scanners are specifically intended for use with our Dragonfly Wearable Computer and our Firebird VMU forklift computer. However, they may also be paired with any wireless-compatible device such as a laptop or tablet. The WSC-1600 and WSC-2700 barcode scanners can be worn on the finger or the top of the hand using one of our universal strap or glove accessories. Wearing the scanner, as opposed to handheld devices, offers an advantage when it comes to making work activities more efficient without the need to be constantly picking up and setting down handheld scanners. With a barcode scanner attached to the hand, the possibility of damage due to drops, a common occurrence with handheld devices, is greatly reduced.
Barcode Scanning Distance
The WSC-1600 is a versatile 2D imager that can scan any barcode in any orientation. Its depth-of-field, or scan distance, is determined by the type, size, and quality of the barcode, but generally speaking, a range of between 2 inches and 20 inches (50mm to 508mm) is pretty typical. It comes with a mount designed to be worn on the finger with a “thumb-trigger” to activate the scan. It comes with a 600mAh battery, and while battery life is highly dependent on the frequency of scans, a typical “full charge” should last about 8 hours. Weighing in at 1.62 ounces (46g), the WSC-1600 is lightweight and comfortable for all-day use.
The WSC-2700 is very similar to the WSC-1600 in that it also uses 2D imaging technology and can scan any barcode in any orientation. However, it is equipped with highly specialized optics that allow it to scan barcodes as close-up as 2.5 inches, to as far away as 40+ feet…again depending on the type, size, and quality of the barcode. The WSC-2700 weighs slightly more at 2.08 ounces (59g). Due to its higher-performance scanning capabilities, users can expect a reduced battery life, typically in the range of 4 hours.
